Regional Governing Body of the SOC
In each region, the RIAC operates as the governing body of the system of care, providing the structure and the space for coordination, planning, and collaboration of services and supports to children and transition-age youth with or at risk of developing behavioral health needs and other challenges, and their families.
This structure builds on existing resources of local public and private agencies and community partners within the community to support sustainable policy, practice and system reform in order to improve the larger system of care for Kentucky’s children, transition-age youth, and their families.
RIAC members work collaboratively to:
- Identify service gaps and/or needs for children, youth, and transition-age youth across agencies
- Build community capacity to promote effective community-based services & supports that align with SOC values & principles
- Regularly review local, regional and state-level data to evaluate and strengthen the SOC
- Develop ways to bridge service gaps to increase access to & availability of high-quality services & supports
- Promote the SOC values & principles across all sectors through outreach and education, regarding ways in which supporting the SOC can benefit the entire community
- Initiate & adopt interagency agreements as necessary for providing services & supports
- Routinely share regional SOC efforts with SIAC, seeking support when regional barriers cannot be broken down, or sharing what’s working well for possible expansion opportunities
Our Purpose:
RIACs (Regional Interagency Councils) provide a protected space for community collaboration where all participants are welcome and encouraged to share their input on identified needs and/or barriers for children, youth, and transition-age youth with or at risk of developing behavioral health needs, with the overall goal of supporting better outcomes for youth and their families.
