The Genesis Program

Genesis was established in 2012 as a Dual Diagnosis Substance Use Treatment Facility. In 2017, Genesis expanded treatment services to 2 locations Genesis East (Men’s Facility) and Genesis West (Women’s Facility). Each facility serves 16 individuals. As dual diagnosis treatment Facilities, Genesis East and West focus on person-centered treatment goals to address both the substance use and mental health issues.

The Genesis East and Genesis West treatment philosophy is to incorporate personal choice through client centered treatment approach, utilizing objective assessment and multimodality therapies, as well as introduction to community support groups and 12 step programs. Evidence Based treatment modalities have been demonstrated to have successful outcomes in relation to development and maintenance of sobriety, increased feelings of self-esteem, self-efficacy and self-worth, and a healthy balanced lifestyle. Genesis incorporates a combination of treatment strategies which provide a holistic approach to address the unique needs of each individual. This method allows us to better identify and directly address the many factors contributing to addiction, mental health issues and other self-destructive behaviors and to empower the individual to be able to live a successful, stable and drug free life. All services will be delivered in the least restrictive environment possible.

During the treatment process, each client will be involved in an intense and structured treatment routine. Treatment is person-centered and tailored to the individual needs of each client. Other treatment activities include individual therapy, family therapy, psychotherapy groups, education groups specific to chemical dependency, living in balance, anger management, living in recovery, coping skills, and relapse prevention. Additional activities offered outside of the treatment facility include AA/NA meetings, optional church attendance and exercise. Heartland Cares provides optional, anonymous HIV testing once a month to clients while they are involved in the program. The Christian County Health Department provides physical health education groups.

In order to be considered for admission, an individual must be at least 18 years of age, meet ASAM criteria for residential treatment, meet substance dependence (ICD 10) for at least one substance, have no convictions which resulted in being placed on sex offender registry, be a resident of Kentucky, be eligible for or have active Kentucky Medicaid insurance, and have a stable medical condition lacking need for immediate and urgent medical care.
