Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the United States affecting more than 23-million people each year.
Anxiety is a natural part of life. Everyone gets anxious about something once in a while, but if it begins to interfere with daily living you could be suffering from an anxiety disorder. These disorders may include panic attacks, obsessive compulsive behavior, phobias, post traumatic stress disorder or generalized anxiety.
Panic attacks are sudden feelings of terror that strike repeatedly and without warning and may even include the fear of dying.
Generalized anxiety is an excessive worry about everyday routines that lasts for at least six months.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder involves repeated, intrusive and unwanted thoughts or rituals that seem impossible to control.
Post traumatic stress disorder is often associated with soldiers following military action, but it can occur anytime a traumatic event is experienced including natural disasters. Nightmares, flashbacks, depression, numbing of emotions, anger, irritability and being easily startled as common.
Phobias are extreme, disabling and irrational fear that poses little or no actual danger.
Symptoms of anxiety disorders include:
  1. Shakiness
  2. Sweating
  3. Dizziness
  4. Tension
  5. Racing or pounding heart
  6. Numbness or tingling of extremities
  7. Upset stomach or diarrhea
  8. High pulse or breathing rate
  9. Fatigue
  10. Lump in throat; dry mouth
  11. Cold, clammy hands
  12. Often worry that something bad will happen
  13. Impatient, irritable
