| Introduction/Philosophy |

| The Pennyroyal Center's
MR/DD Services provides an array of services that seeks to deliver supports
and programs to enhance the independence, community acceptance and physical,
mental, and emotional well being of individual clients with mental retardation
or developmental disabilities. These programs, supports, and services will
be tailored to address the choices, needs and preferences of the individual
client and his/her family, consistent with available resources. |

| WE STRIVE
to support clients and their families to make choices about where and with
whom to live, where they want to work, what hobbies they wish to pursue,
what religion they desire to practice, and other preferences that encompass
a wide range of daily living decisions. |

| WE STRIVE
to give individual clients and families more control over the resources
needed for support. It is our intent to have the individual client or their
family choose the type of supports that work for them in their home and
community. |

| WE BELIEVE
that each individual client has significant worth and desires to succeed
in their working, residential and recreational environments. |

| WE SUPPORT
AND PROVIDE services so that: |

-Parents
become their child's first teachers;
-Children from birth to three receive developmentally appropriate support;
-Children and adults, where appropriate, are integrated into meaningful
community activities;
-Individuals may participate in the decisions concerning their lives;
-Individuals may obtain education, habilitation and training to strengthen
their abilities;
-Individuals may obtain meaningful employment in the community;
-Individuals may obtain appropriate residential accomodations;
-Individuals may obtain the necessary supporting services to live as independently
as possible, near family and friends;
-Individuals may obtain necessary supports to maintain the family unit. |

Person Centered Planning that involves the individual client, family members
and others who know and care about the person with mental retardation or
a developmental disability to help determine the levels of support needed. |
